BES920 Pressure Gauge Replacement Guide

Breville / Sage Dual Boiler · BES920 example

Pressure gauge replacement.

Replace a moisture-damaged gauge and check the leak that allowed water or steam into the machine.

Before you start

This follows the replacement route in the video. Removing the front assembly disturbs boiler connections and protective earth; it is an internal service job.

Before you work

  • Unplug at the outlet and prevent reconnection before internal work. The front-panel power button does not isolate the machine.
  • Allow the machine to cool and release stored pressure by the correct service procedure before opening any boiler connection.
  • Mains wiring and electrical safety checks belong to a suitably qualified repairer. Refit all protective parts before a powered check.

Tools and supplies

  • Phillips screwdriver and T20 driver shown in the source
  • 7 mm spanner
  • Correct replacement gauge and matched disturbed seals
  • A record of all connections, including protective earth

The source offers replacement first, then an improvised drying experiment. This guide keeps the replacement procedure separate from that experiment and does not imply that cosmetic drying calibrates a gauge.

Assess and prepare

01

Check the gauge and the source of moisture

A fogged or water-marked gauge is a reason to investigate moisture inside the casing as well as the gauge itself.

Find and repair the underlying leak. A clear replacement face alone does not establish that the machine is dry or the pressure reading is accurate.

Workshop walkthrough

02

Isolate and open the machine

Unplug, allow the machine to cool and make its pressure system safe before removing the top cover.

The video shows front-underside and rear access fasteners. Use the complete casing procedure for the actual revision rather than assuming the brief montage shows every screw.

03

Release the front assembly carefully

The filmed access includes releasing the front panel, removing the obstructing level probes and disconnecting an earth strap. Document every connection before moving it.

Protect open boiler ports and avoid straining the gauge tube or wiring as the panel is brought forward.

The earth strap is a protective connection and must be restored. Do not treat it as an optional mounting wire.

04

Remove the gauge mounting and pressure connection

Use the 7 mm spanner shown to remove the two gauge mounting nuts. Release the pressure connection without bending or damaging its tube.

Remove the old gauge and compare the replacement’s mounting, connection and scale with it before fitting.

05

Fit the replacement and renew disturbed seals

Fit the matched replacement gauge and restore its pressure connection and mounting. Renew the disturbed O-rings with the correct parts.

The video later replaces the probe seals as well. Preserve the original fitting arrangements and verify each seal against the actual port.

06

Restore earth, probes, panel and covers

Refit the probes, retaining clips, electrical connections and protective earth in their documented positions.

Check the pressure tube routing and every disturbed seal before closing the front assembly and casing.

Finish and verify

07

Check for leaks and plausible gauge operation

Have the repairer complete the appropriate safety and pressure-system checks. With the machine fully reassembled, confirm the original moisture fault and gauge behaviour have been addressed.

The last section of the film experiments with drying an old gauge. It is not a calibration procedure and is not the repair route used here.

Drilling, heating, compressed-air drying and taping the old gauge are archive experiments. They do not certify its accuracy or pressure integrity.

The original workshop film

Watch the repair in context

Use the original video to check the order and component positions. Its edited footage is not proof of isolation, electrical safety or a complete test of your machine.

Final checks

Use this checklist to review the work and the evidence. It does not claim that these checks were completed on your machine.

  • The moisture source has been repaired.
  • Gauge mounting, pressure connection and tube routing are correct.
  • Probes, retaining clips and protective earth are restored.
  • The machine is fully closed and appropriate leak, safety and functional checks are complete.

Sources and model notes

Use the procedure and parts that match the actual machine. Stop if the fault, connections or required safety checks cannot be established. Read the BrevTech repair disclaimer.
