The sequence is demonstrated on a BES920. Do not apply its button combinations or display meanings to an Oracle or another firmware without confirming the correct procedure.

Before you start

This walkthrough uses the external buttons and display. Keep the casing closed and use the diagnostic screens for observation.

Before you work

  • Keep the casing closed while using the powered menu.
  • Do not continue operating an overheating or leaking machine. Disconnect it and arrange repair.
  • Do not open drains or disconnect probes to force a display change.

Tools and supplies

  • No casing-removal tools
  • A note of the symptom, version screens and readings

This guide includes the corrections in the current video description: the three status fields are coffee, steam low and steam high. It also distinguishes two boilers plus a heated group from the video’s “three boilers” wording.

Assess and prepare

01

Record the symptom before entering the menu

Note whether the machine heats slowly, overshoots its setting or flashes without becoming ready. If it is overheating, switch off at the outlet and stop using it.

The machine has two boilers and a separately heated group head. The video’s reference to a third boiler is informal wording.

02

Enter self-check using the external buttons

With the machine off at the outlet, hold EXIT and MANUAL while switching the outlet back on. The source demonstration then shows a version screen.

Keep the machine assembled; this menu entry does not require the lid to be removed.

03

Record the version and display checks

Record the first PCB/version information. Press MENU to continue through the next version screen and the display, light and button checks.

The narrator is unsure what the second version number represents. Record it as displayed rather than labelling it a confirmed firmware version.

Read the three level-status fields correctly

Press MENU to reach the level-status display. BrevTech’s corrected video description identifies the fields as coffee-boiler level, steam LOW level for heat, and steam HIGH level for the pump.

The source uses L for no water detected and H for water detected. Record the pattern; it does not independently prove that a probe is healthy.

The spoken line calling these three steam probes is corrected by the video description.

05

Read coffee, steam and group temperatures

At the level-status stage, use MENU and DOWN together to enter the temperature view. The source shows coffee-boiler temperature first.

Press MENU for steam-boiler temperature, then again for the group-head heater temperature. Record the readings and which circuit each belongs to.

Finish and verify

06

Leave unknown tests and resets alone

The source later displays F, P and Erase EEPROM. Their functions are not fully established in the narration. Do not use them as part of this diagnostic read-through.

Exit by switching the machine off at the outlet. Keep your recorded readings for fault-finding or for the technician.

Do not erase EEPROM or reset the shot count to investigate a heating fault. It changes stored information without fixing the fault.

Watch the repair in context

This is a read-only diagnostic guide. The source also demonstrates uncertain menu functions and a counter reset; those are outside this walkthrough.

Final checks

Use this checklist to review the work and the evidence. It does not claim that these checks were completed on your machine.

  • The level-status order follows the corrected description.
  • Each temperature is recorded against the correct heater.
  • No unknown actuator test, EEPROM erase or counter reset was used.
  • An abnormal reading is treated as evidence to investigate, not a confirmed failed component.

Sources and model notes

Written from the original BrevTech footage and its current description. Every screenshot links to the matching video time. The film may omit service detail; model and procedure limits are stated above.

Use the procedure and parts that match the actual machine. Stop if the fault, connections or required safety checks cannot be established. Read the BrevTech repair disclaimer.
