Replacement Triac and Opto Isolator to repair 99% of Triac Board faults on the Breville Oracle (BES980) and Touch (BES990) and SAGE SES equivalents.
If your machine has developed a heating problem, your grinder isn't running or you have a solenoid stuck on, then this kit will save you money on a new board.
These components will work on both 240v and 120v versions. SP0010242 / SP0001772
All components are genuine and come from a large, reputable component supplier.
✅ Confirm These Symptoms First
Before purchasing, verify your machine shows at least one of the following:
- No heating on steam boiler or brew boiler (machine stays cold)
- Grinder motor does not run when dose button is pressed
- Solenoid valve stuck open — continuous water flow or dripping when idle
- Machine powers on but displays a heating error or thermoblock fault code
- One boiler heats but the other does not (partial failure)
If you are seeing pump failures, no-power, or PID/display faults only, the Triac board is likely not the cause — check other components first.
🔧 Required Tools
- Torx T10 and T15 screwdrivers
- Phillips #2 screwdriver
- Soldering iron (temperature-controlled, 350–380°C) and solder
- Desoldering pump or wick
- Multimeter (AC/DC voltage, continuity, and resistance modes)
- Needle-nose pliers
- Thermal paste or heatsink compound (for Triac mounting)
⚠️ Safety Precautions

Unplug the machine and allow capacitors to discharge for at least 5 minutes before opening
- Do not work on the machine while connected to mains power at any point
- Discharge residual boiler pressure before disconnecting any plumbing
- The Triac must be correctly oriented — the alternative Triac used in this kit has MT1 and MT2 swapped; fit it in reverse compared to the original
- If repurposing a 240V board for a 120V machine, swap the large resistor from 47kΩ to 22kΩ
- Work on an anti-static mat if available to avoid component damage
👷 When to Use a Qualified Technician Instead
Stop and seek a qualified technician if any of the following apply:
- You are not comfortable with PCB-level soldering
- Multimeter readings show mains voltage present after unplugging (faulty capacitor — do not proceed)
- The board shows burn marks, cracked traces, or damaged connectors beyond the Triac and Opto Isolator
- You are unsure of the fault source after following the diagnostic steps
- The machine is still under warranty (DIY repair may void it)

"Don't forget to purchase an o-ring kit too - leaky seals are the root cause of a failed triac board. Also, the small triacs used on these are discontinued so I now use alternative ones; however, they must be fitted in reverse as MT1 and MT2 are swapped. If you are wondering whether to buy a whole 240v triac board for your 120v version then you can, but need to swap out the large 47k resistor for a 22k."
