Oracle BES980 Major Service Guide

Breville / Sage Oracle · BES980

Oracle BES980 major service.

Follow the actual service sequence: seals, probe inspection, coffee solenoid, water pump, air pump and venturi valve.

9 workshop stagesOriginal BrevTech footageTechnician level

The filmed machine is a BES980. The two pumps serviced are one water pump and one air pump; the video does not establish replacement of both water pumps or two complete solenoid assemblies.

Before you start

A service-sequence companion to a largely silent, sped-up workshop film. Use the detailed component guides and model service information for the connections that the montage does not explain.

Before you work

  • Unplug at the outlet and prevent reconnection before internal work. The front-panel power button does not isolate the machine.
  • Allow the machine to cool and release stored pressure by the correct service procedure before opening any boiler connection.
  • Mains wiring and electrical safety checks belong to a suitably qualified repairer. Refit all protective parts before a powered check.

Tools and supplies

  • BES980-specific drivers and service information
  • Matched seals, retaining parts and only the components diagnosed as faulty
  • A hose, wiring and fastener record for the actual machine
  • Qualified electrical and pressure-system testing equipment where required

This guide follows the actual on-screen stage overlays, which differ from the newer description’s rough timestamps. The film is mostly music and sped-up work; it cannot supply a complete connector-level service manual.

Part 1 of 3

Assess and prepare

01

Record the fault log and the service job

Record the machine’s symptoms and existing fault-log information before changing parts. Use those findings to decide which components actually need service.

The source’s first overlay is “Check Error Log”; it does not establish that every machine needs the same replacement list.

02

Isolate and remove the casing

Unplug, cool and make the hydraulic system pressure-safe before disassembly. Record the original connections and keep fasteners with their panels.

The montage shows rear access and then the opened top of the machine; follow the actual BES980 service sequence for details not visible in the sped-up clip.

03

Service the illustrated hose-port seals

Work through the accessible O-ring connections one at a time, preserving their correct seals, washers and retaining clips.

Match the actual fitting; a compression-style port is not serviced by copying an older O-ring stack.

04

Inspect probes without claiming cleaning proves health

The film removes and cleans the level-probe tips, then refits their seals and clips. Inspect the complete probe and use a verified service method.

A cleaner metal tip does not prove that the probe’s insulation behaves correctly when hot or exposed to descaler. Consider the later probe-test findings before descaling.

Repair the coffee-solenoid internals

The next labelled stage is coffee-solenoid repair. Use the matched valve/service parts and the detailed solenoid guide for the internal arrangement.

Restore the documented waste hose, valve seals, mounting and all electrical connections including earth.

Replace the water pump shown in the montage

The source opens the lower/rear pump-access area and removes the water pump. Match the replacement voltage, mounting and connections to the actual assembly.

The viewing angle does not expose every terminal or hose. Use the original connection record and service information rather than deriving a wiring map from this still.

Replace the separate air pump

The following section is an air-pump replacement for a milk-frothing problem. It is distinct from the water pump in the previous stage.

Verify the actual replacement’s terminal markings, enclosure and air-hose route. The separate frothing guide explains the polarity and hose-fit cautions.

08

Service the venturi valve and small internal parts

The film then repairs the venturi assembly. Keep its small spring, inlet and seal parts in their recorded order and use the correctly matched repair components.

This is internal-parts service; the footage does not establish that a complete second solenoid valve was replaced.

Finish and verify

09

Reassemble, test and review the fault log

Restore every documented connection, protective part and cover before the appropriate safety and functional checks.

The closing montage shows a drink/steam test and another fault-log check. Confirm the original symptoms, leaks and temperature behaviour on the actual serviced machine.

Watch the repair in context

Use the actual labelled stages in the film. One water pump and one air pump are shown; coffee-solenoid and venturi internal repairs should not be described as two complete solenoid replacements.

Final checks

Use this checklist to review the work and the evidence. It does not claim that these checks were completed on your machine.

  • The service list was based on recorded symptoms and inspection.
  • Water pump and air pump are identified separately.
  • Coffee-solenoid and venturi repairs retain the correct internal parts and seals.
  • All wiring, earths, clips, hose routes, panels and covers are restored.
  • Appropriate safety checks and the final functional/fault-log comparison are complete.

Sources and model notes

Written from the original BrevTech footage and its current description. Every screenshot links to the matching video time. The film may omit service detail; model and procedure limits are stated above.

Use the procedure and parts that match the actual machine. Stop if the fault, connections or required safety checks cannot be established. Read the BrevTech repair disclaimer.
