Step-by-Step Breville Solenoid Valve Repair
Power Down & Cool
Unplug your machine and allow it to cool completely before starting.
Remove the Front and Rear Screws
Remove the two Phillips screws under the front panel and the two Torx screws at the back.

Lift the Lid
Carefully lift the top cover to access the solenoid assembly.
Disconnect Purge Hose & Wires
Cut the old zip tie on the purge hose and gently lever it up with pliers. Disconnect the two mains connectors (AC — orientation doesn’t matter).

Release the Locking Terminal
The bottom terminal is a locking type — push down the catch to release it.

Remove the Coil & Solenoid Screws
Unscrew the top nut to remove the coil. Then remove the four screws holding the solenoid. Be gentle — these can snap easily. Use WD-40 if tight.

Clean & Descale
Brush descaling solution on any scaled surfaces while the solenoid is out.

Disassemble & Replace the Plunger
Take out the old seals and pins. Then use a 17 mm socket/spanner to open the solenoid body. Replace the plunger with the kit part; soak metal parts in descaler + a backflush tablet to remove any scale and leftover oils.

Reassemble, Clean & Refit
Clean the remaining scale with a wire brush then insert pins and gaskets, align the solenoid, tighten the screws gently, re-attach the hose with a new zip tie, reconnect wires, and test.

Optional Upgrade – Viton O-Rings
If your plate is heavily corroded, the kit’s Olab Viton O-rings can seal better than Teflon gaskets on uneven surfaces.

Broken a Screw?
Spray WD-40 into the thread, wait a few minutes, then grip with pliers.

If there’s not enough thread left, cut a slot into the top of the screw thread with a Dremel and use a flat screwdriver to turn it out. If this fails too, you'll need to re-drill and re-tap.
