If your machine still has the older steam boiler probes fitted, replacing them before a descale or major service is one of the smartest jobs you can do. Worn probes are a common cause of descale-related failures, false boiler readings, and steam boilers that stop heating properly.

This set includes 3 genuine Breville steam probes with the newer black Viton seals.

Why These Matter

The ceramic coating on the original probes wears over time. Once that happens, descale solution and moisture can interfere with the sensors and trigger all sorts of boiler problems. This is especially important on the BES990, which is more sensitive to probe-related descale failures.

If your steam boiler is only heating part way, struggling after a descale, or giving inconsistent behaviour with everything else apparently working, the probes should be high on your suspect list.
